About the club
The Rotary Club of Kampala East, chartered on May 3, 1988, is known for its lively culture of storytelling and song. It meets weekly at Hotel Africana in Kampala and currently has 53 members (41.5% female). The club has chartered 5 Rotary Clubs (Kasangati, Port Bell, Nsangi, Numba, Kampala Palms),
3 Rotaract Clubs (Kampala East, Ndejje City, Nakawa-MUBS), and is preparing to charter the Interact Club of Seroma. It also supports a Rotary Community Corps in Kasanje.
Achievements
Completed / Ongoing
- Trained youth in Kibaale under a $85,000 Global Grant with
RC Winchester USA and Eco Agric Uganda - Delivered polio vaccines to 70+ children during a health outreach in Kasokoso
- Constructed a classroom block at Sam Owori Memorial
School, Nakasongola - Ongoing Maternal & Child Health project in Kasanje
- Financial literacy sessions for teachers in Mbuya and St.
Kizito Primary Schools - 85% of members registered on MyRotary, 89% accessed the
RI Learning Center - Balanced leadership team: 9 women, 9 men, and 5

- Planting 1,500 trees in Kasanje (Sept 2025)
- Heart surgeries in partnership with RC Ssese Islands
- Library project at St. Kizito Primary School and vocational skills training in Kasanje (both pending assessment)
